What is a rostered duty session?

The Subiaco Toy Library is run by parents, for parents. That's why each family is required to attend at least two rostered duty sessions per year. You can select roster dates that suit you and sign up for duty on the calendar at the loans desk or online on Mibase.
What does it involve?
Under the guidance of our experienced supervisor, you will help checking returned items, placing them back on the shelves and help parents find new interesting toys. This is also a great opportunity to meet other members!

How can I best take care of the toys?

Members are asked to treat all items borrowed and their packaging with good care. Where convenient, it's a good idea to remove the toys from their packaging and store that until it's time to return the toys. Outdoor toys should be placed under cover at night and kept out of strong sunlight, rain and sprinklers. Please do not take our toys to other locations than your home as this is how the majority of losses and breakages occur.

I'm missing a piece!

If you return an item with a missing piece, you will be asked to borrow the item for an extra three weeks' borrowing period. This gives you the chance to find the missing piece. If the piece cannot be found, there is a fine of $3 for each missing piece. If the toy no longer works without the missing piece, you may be asked to pay for its full replacement cost. If you find the missing piece later, we will refund you.

Uh-oh - it's broken!

For any breakage or damage to an item, there is a $3 fine, payable when you return the items. If the damage is deemed to be normal wear and tear, we will refund you. If the damage makes the toy unusable, you will be charged for its full replacement or repair cost.

But what if I'm late bringing toys back?

If you are late returning toys there is a small fee of $1 per item per week payable on return.
